Got anything else ah?

That must be one of the most often-asked questions when people come to Damansara Village Steamboat for the first time. Damansara Village is best known for its ultra-fresh seafood steamboat dishes featuring live crabs, prawns, mantis prawns, giant clams, fish and lobsters and geoducks (seasonal). But some diners prefer to whet their apetite while waiting for our signature Drunken Herbal Pot soup to boil for their steamboat. So we have introduced some simply delicious side orders which have become signature items on the Damansara Village menu.......

Steamed Village Chicken - tender whole or half portions of free-range chicken steamed with our special marinate.

Paper-wrapped chicken - this tasty dish from a famous 'auntie' in Pudu is a Damansara Village favorite.

And today I'd like to introduce you to 2 more DEEEELICIOUS Damansara Village specialties...

Yeem Goak Hai (Cantonese for Salt-baked crabs)

Salt-baked meat crabs........big, live succulent meat crabs from Pulau Ketam. Wok-baked in sea salt until fragrant and juicy. You have to try it.

Hoong Jau La-la (Cantonese for red wine la-la)

Red Wine Steamed La-la.......a subtle blend of Chinese red wine, herbs and ginger marinate a mix of giant Sar Pak (giant clams) and local la-la and steamed to perfection. Eat this hot and savour the soup which you can also add to your steamboat for a different ziiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnng!!!

They shoot horse thieves, don't they?

HERO - gone forever.

A few weeks ago our Damansara Village carousel horse, HERO was stolen! Hero is a beautiful, classic carousel horse which our guests loved so much, especially the children love. Now he is gone forever and Hero is irreplaceable.

I know it is a slim to no-hope chance that Hero is found. But we ask you to help by looking out for Hero. After all, a carousel horse would be pretty hard to hide, wouldn't it? It isn't made of metal so he won't be smelted for scrap. That rules out the infamous metal thieves who take cables and drain covers. Perhaps some pranskter took it just for fun. I don't know.

In the Wild West days they used to shoot horse thieves.

Thank you so very very much

Last night's Myanmar and China fund raiser at Damansara Village Steamboat Restaurant was an unqualified success. Thanks to the generousity and caring of Malaysians. More than 200 people turned up in answer to the call by the restaurant to raise funds for the victims of the Myanmar cyclone and the earthquake in China. Most came to enjoy the fresh seafood steamboat and do their bit for a good cause. But some just came to donate to the fund and wish the organisers well.

Celebrity comedian Harith Iskander and friend, Maria

A big thank you must go to my old friend and fellow-blogger, Bernard Khoo "Zorro Unmasked" (second from left) who helped to publicise the event by posting it on his popular blog. And to Tony Yew-tube for being there and helping with the photos and video. Watch out for the video on Tony's blog. Since I figured out how to do it I've brought the video here for you. Enjoy.

Actor, director, comedian and good friend, Afdlin Shauki and wife, Christina.

Writer, director Na Murad and friend, June

Jim Yap (second from right) and members of the SMART cars gang.

At the end of the night a total collection of RM24,632.17 was realised. Damansara Village will donate the entire amount without deductions for costs and expenses. The amount will be divided equally for the funds for Myanmar and China and will be managed by Sin Chew Jit Poh and Nanyang Siang Pao.

To all of you, thank you for your support. From the bottom of my heart.......Patrick Teoh

After the event night a couple of anonymous donors came in to do their share.

The final tally from the fund-raiser..............RM24,926.00

Say hello to our newest addition at Damansara Village. It's Hero, the classic Carousel Horse. You don't see many of this species around anymore. So we are very glad that Hero has joined us.
